ESC facilitates learning through visuals

Buddy group connects deaf students

In the ESC hearing-impaired classroom at Windermere Elementary in Upper Arlington City Schools, ESC Interpreter Bianca Smith has created miniature models of the story settings to assist with the visualizations during story read-aloud time. In December, the class completed the book “Hatchet.”

Smith’s visual aids helped the students understand the setting and what was happening in the story.

Read more about Smith and her use of visual aids in class.
